Timer, pause, and a new attempt

Use the timer to start and pause your run. Chat messages and timer status show what happens next.

Use the timer

In a challenge run, start the timer when your group is ready. Before that, challenge rules are not active yet. Use /timer status whenever you want to check the timer.

CommandWhat it does
/timer startStarts the run.
/timer pausePauses time and the world.
/timer resumeContinues after a short countdown.
/timer resetResets the timer and run progress.

Pause and continue a run

When you pause, run time stops and the world freezes. Your team can talk or take a break. A visible countdown runs before continuing. The game continues after it.

Stopping the server is different: it ends the session. It does not make the server lifetime longer.

ActionWhat stays
PauseTime and world stop.
Stop serverSession ends, server lifetime continues.
/timer resetTimer and progress reset. In challenge runs, the world and inventories stay.
New serverA new world and run.

Reset a challenge run

/timer reset asks you to confirm before it runs. Afterwards, the timer and run progress reset. In challenge runs, blocks you built or broke, inventories, experience, and shared backpack contents stay. Used-up goals do not return.

Create a new server for a completely fresh world. Talk to your group first because a reset affects the whole run.

Check the rules

Use /run info for an overview and /run players for the player list. In challenge runs, /run rules shows rules. Use /run goals for goals and /run settings for settings. This helps settle questions with the actual settings of your run.
