Minecraft Challenge Server FAQ

Private servers, Java, Bedrock, and challenge combinations explained

What is Sparkane?

Sparkane is a free network for private Minecraft challenge servers. Create a server, combine randomizers, restrictions, and survival modes, and play with friends without hosting, downloads, or client-side plugins.

Is Sparkane really free?

Yes! Create two Personal Servers for free and invite your friends. Start your server at least every 3 days to keep playing. Ranks allow longer breaks between starts, more player slots and extra features.

How do I create a challenge server?

Connect to play.sparkane.com in Minecraft (Java 1.21.11 – 26.3 or Bedrock). Choose a ready-made preset in the lobby and create your server in game. You can also set up your server on our website: the configurator lets you combine challenges and adjust goals, rules, and world settings. Once your server is ready, invite friends and start your run with /timer start.

Can I combine multiple challenges?

Yes! Depending on your rank, you can activate multiple challenges at once. For example, combine "Block Drop Randomizer" with "Chunk = Mob" for extra chaos!

Do my friends need a rank too?

The server creator’s rank determines the available challenges, world settings, and server limits. Invited friends can play those challenges and worlds without needing the same rank themselves.

Can I play challenges on my own?

Yes. You can start your private challenge server on your own. If you want to play with friends, invite them in game.

Can I play with Java and Bedrock together?

Yes! Sparkane supports both editions and enables cross-platform play. Friends on PC and mobile can play together. If your console does not show Add Server, connect through BedrockTogether on a supported Android or iOS device. Sparkane will then appear in the console LAN list.

When can I play new Minecraft content?

We aim to bring new Minecraft Game Drop content to Sparkane as soon as possible. This typically takes four to six weeks after release. We announce newly available content on Discord. On Java, you can join using a version within the listed range. On Bedrock, you can always join using the latest version. Supporting a game version does not mean that all content from a new Game Drop is already available.

Is my progress saved?

Yes! Your server pauses automatically when all players leave. Your progress is preserved and you can restart your server from the lobby during its lifetime.

Can we take a break during a run?

Yes. The host can use /timer pause to freeze the game world and pause your run timer. Use /timer resume to continue. Your server is not deleted for inactivity while you are on it. When everyone leaves, it stops automatically.

What if no server slot is available?

Your server joins a queue and starts automatically when it is your turn. Rank and waiting time determine the order.

How long does my server run?

Your server is not deleted for inactivity while you are playing on it. Between server starts, you have 3 days without a rank, 7 with Pro, 14 with Elite and 30 with Legend. Each start resets the time for that server. Without a rank, with Pro and with Elite, you then cannot start it, but have another 2, 3 or 5 days to save it with a higher rank. With Legend, it is deleted after 30 days without a start. Check the dates in the lobby.
