Set the rules

Minecraft Challenge Settings for Hearts, Lives, and PvP

Set how many hearts you have, what happens on death, and whether PvP is allowed. Keep the defaults or change individual rules for your run.

Which rules suit your team?

Understanding the shared death limit

The death limit applies to all players combined. The run ends in failure as soon as the configured number is reached. With a limit of three deaths, the third death is decisive, regardless of how those deaths are distributed across the team.

Use a more generous limit for your first attempts, then tighten it once you know the challenge. The limit determines when the run ends; it does not describe when the server is deleted.

Shared Life and Synchronized Hearts work differently

Shared Life means that when an active player dies, the other active group members also die. Synchronized Hearts instead mirrors damage and healing between active group members.

Both rules can be combined with the shared death limit. Deaths caused by Shared Life also count, so a single mistake can reach a low limit.

Two practical starting points

For a first attempt together, keep the default settings and change only your challenge. After the run, it will be easier to identify which rule actually caused problems.

For a run with more shared responsibility, enable Shared Life and agree on the combined death limit. For a different kind of teamwork, choose Synchronized Hearts: healing then affects the group too. Also review PvP, regeneration and inventory rules before starting.
