Your items stay with you
Your items stay, so each choice matters
If you die, your items are still there after you respawn. But you cannot simply drop them on the ground either. Picking up every item you find will quickly fill your inventory.
By default, you cannot put items into chests or barrels or take items out. This also applies to chests and barrels you placed yourself. Your own inventory and the crafting inventory keep working. Inserting items into a bundle is blocked too.
Your inventory stays after death by default. Your own inventory and the crafting inventory remain usable.
Example round: a creeper kills you after you collect diamonds. After respawning, your inventory is still there. You can open your own chest, but you cannot put items in or take them out. An additional rule that clears inventory can still remove items.

What to expect from your run
- Rule complexity
- You keep items after death, but cannot drop them or store them in chests or barrels.
- Experience
- A tidy inventory and a clear plan for supplies help.
- Time commitment
- You do not need to recover your gear after dying. A full inventory can slow down your gathering, though.
Manage items safely
Tips for Permanent Item
When you cannot put items down, give every important item a planned place.
- 01Sort your inventory early
- Keep tools, food and goal items in consistent places so you can find them quickly.
- 02Look inside chests and barrels
- You can open chests and barrels to look inside. You cannot use them for storage, even if you place them yourself.
- 03Do not pick up everything
- Leave items you do not need on the ground. Keep room for food, tools and important finds.
- 04Check combinations
- An additional inventory-clearing rule can still remove items. Review your choices before starting.
Put inventory under pressure
Combine Permanent Item with other challenges
A second rule can change how you manage your items even further.
- Permanent Item + Damage Clears Inventory

- Permanent Item + Mob Loot Randomizer
- Random mob drops stay with you once you receive them. Sort the finds while you keep working toward your goal.2 simultaneous challenges · Host needs Pro
The configurator shows which rules you can enable together. Some combinations do not suit every goal.
