Damage can move your items to new slots. Find your food, sword and tools again before you fight on.

Damage moves your items

After damage, your items are somewhere else

When you take damage during the run, your existing items are redistributed across the normal inventory slots. Empty slots move too: no item is created and none disappears.

Fire and fall damage can trigger the rule too. Armor and your off-hand stay in place. With Hotbar Only active as well, only the nine hotbar slots are shuffled.

Existing items stay intact. By default, normal inventory slots, including empty slots, are shuffled.

Example round: a skeleton hits you while you are about to eat. The food stays with you, but it moves to another slot. You find it again before fighting on. A later fall can shuffle the items too.

01Check the hotbar again
Check your hotbar after a hit. There might be bread where your sword used to be.
02Keep key items easy to spot
Carry only what you need so your sword, food and blocks are quick to find.
03Call out damage
If you and your friends are playing together, say when your items have been shuffled.

What damage does to your items.

Are items deleted in the shuffle?

No. Existing items and empty slots are only rearranged. Nothing is created and nothing is deleted.

Which damage can trigger the rule?

It is not just attacks: fire and falls can shuffle your items too. A fully blocked hit does not count.

What changes with Hotbar Only?

When both challenges are active, only the nine hotbar slots are shuffled. Armor and the off-hand stay in place, and the other normal storage slots remain restricted.

Start your shuffled inventory run

You need Minecraft, but no extra mods or server hosting of your own.

How to join on Java & Bedrock

    Join Sparkane

    Connect to play.sparkane.com. We support 1.21.11 – 26.3 on Java. The “How to join on Java & Bedrock” guide covers both editions.

    Choose your challenge in the lobby

    Choose the ready-made preset for your challenge at the NPC in the lobby. Its goal and rules are already set. To change them or combine challenges, open the optional web configurator.

    Start your server and invite friends

    Create your server from the preset or your custom configuration and wait for your server to be ready. Invite friends with /invite <Name>. Java and Bedrock players can play together.

    Start the timer and play

    Everyone ready? As the host, use /timer start. You can then break blocks and the challenge rules become active. Use /timer pause and /timer resume to take a break and continue your run.
