Minecraft challenge
Only Down
You can always go down. Climb one block back up and you die. Make every descent count.

Every height matters
Descending is the decision
The challenge places you at a checked high starting point. While the run is active, it records each player’s lowest height. Rise at least one block above it through normal movement and you die.
There is a five-second grace period at the start by default. Teleports and respawns set a new personal baseline. A bed or planned return route can therefore matter.
There is a five-second grace period after the run starts; teleports and respawns reset your personal height.
Example round: a cave path drops three blocks, then climbs one step. You look for another entrance first, because that step would become fatal after the descent.

What to expect from your run
- Rule complexity
- Plan every loss of height without climbing one block afterward.
- Experience
- Reading terrain, safe routes and team coordination help.
- Time commitment
- Detours may take time; your chosen path determines the effort.
Check before stepping
Tips for Only Down
A glance at the route back can save an attempt.
- 01Spot upward steps
- Check cave entrances, stairs and uneven ground for climbs.
- 02Mark descents
- Record useful heights and possible exits before heading lower.
- 03Use the grace period
- The first five seconds let you get oriented; they do not grant a permanent exception.
Another twist
Combine Only Down
Another rule makes route choice harder.
- Only Down + Biome = Effect
- A helpful biome may be worth reaching, but the route must still work without upward steps.2 simultaneous challenges · Host needs Pro
The configurator shows which rules you can enable together. Some combinations do not suit every goal.
