The Overworld is only one block wide. Follow the line, gather supplies and find twelve End Portal Frames to build your own portal.

A narrow route

Every step has two edges

The generated Overworld follows a single line. Biomes, plants, trees and small ore patches change along it. Oaks, berries, coal and iron near spawn help you begin. The Nether and End remain ordinary worlds.

Isolated water and lava sources and chests lie beneath the surface. Each chest contains one End Portal Frame. Collect twelve, build an inward-facing ring and craft the Eyes of Ender yourself.

Player builds and flowing liquids can extend beyond the generated line.

Example round: after traveling several sections, you spot a chest just below the edge. Mine the block above it, secure the frame and decide whether to continue or gather food first.

Tips for One Line

The line exposes much of the world at once. Use its visible sides while searching.

01Check the edges
Chests sit just below the surface and can be spotted from the side.
02Mark water and lava
Isolated sources sit in the rock. Remember their locations for farms and Nether portal plans.
03Place the portal carefully
Set the twelve frames while standing inside the 3 × 3 opening; further chests offer replacements after mistakes.

Can I widen the line?

Yes. The world generates on a line one block wide; blocks you place and flowing liquids can extend beyond it.

Is there a ready-made End portal?

No. Chests contain individual frames. Build a ring from twelve frames and craft your own Eyes of Ender.

Are the Nether and End one block wide too?

No. Only the Overworld uses line generation. The Nether and End remain normal.

Start your One Line run

You need Minecraft, but no extra mods or server hosting of your own.

How to join on Java & Bedrock

    Join Sparkane

    Connect to play.sparkane.com. We support 1.21.11 – 26.3 on Java. The “How to join on Java & Bedrock” guide covers both editions.

    Choose your challenge in the lobby

    Choose the ready-made preset for your challenge at the NPC in the lobby. Its goal and rules are already set. To change them or combine challenges, open the optional web configurator.

    Start your server and invite friends

    Create your server from the preset or your custom configuration and wait for your server to be ready. Invite friends with /invite <Name>. Java and Bedrock players can play together.

    Start the timer and play

    Everyone ready? As the host, use /timer start. You can then break blocks and the challenge rules become active. Use /timer pause and /timer resume to take a break and continue your run.
