No helmet, no chestplate, no armor. Even a skeleton becomes dangerous. Will you use a shield or look for cover?

Protection without armor

Survive without armor

While the run is active, you cannot wear armor. Armor you are already wearing is removed when the rule activates and moved into your inventory. If there is no room, it drops on the ground.

You cannot equip armor yourself or have a dispenser equip it for you. You can carry armor as an item, and you can still use a shield.

Example round: you start with iron armor, which is removed when the rule activates. A later attempt to equip the helmet is blocked. You block a skeleton arrow with your shield and use a hill for cover before moving on.

Combat positioning, shield timing and safe retreats replace some of the protection.

Careful fights and detours can take time. Plan food and escape routes before dangerous areas.

You last longer when you avoid damage instead of trying to absorb it.

01Keep a shield ready
Put a shield in your off-hand and practice raising it in time for arrows and melee attacks.
02Choose cover before loot
Build walls, use height differences and light routes before collecting rare resources.
03Keep your distance
A bow lets you fight dangerous mobs from a distance. Leave yourself enough room to back away.
04Bring food
Bring enough food and heal between fights. Without armor, you lose hearts more quickly.

What remains possible without armor.

Can I use a shield?

Yes. The challenge blocks armor and equipping armor, not the off-hand. A shield and cover remain usable.

What happens to armor I am already wearing?

When the rule activates, it is removed and moved into your inventory. If there is no room, leftover pieces drop on the ground.

Can I play No Armor with All Advancements?

No. Some advancements require you to equip armor, so All Advancements cannot be combined with No Armor.

You need Minecraft, but no extra mods or server hosting of your own.

How to join on Java & Bedrock

    Join Sparkane

    Connect to play.sparkane.com. We support 1.21.11 – 26.3 on Java. The “How to join on Java & Bedrock” guide covers both editions.

    Choose your challenge in the lobby

    Choose the ready-made preset for your challenge at the NPC in the lobby. Its goal and rules are already set. To change them or combine challenges, open the optional web configurator.

    Start your server and invite friends

    Create your server from the preset or your custom configuration and wait for your server to be ready. Invite friends with /invite <Name>. Java and Bedrock players can play together.

    Start the timer and play

    Everyone ready? As the host, use /timer start. You can then break blocks and the challenge rules become active. Use /timer pause and /timer resume to take a break and continue your run.
