Minecraft Challenge

Crumbling Spheres

Two minutes, then the ground gives way. Explore floating biome spheres, gather what you need and reach the next bridge before your sphere crumbles.

How to start your run
  • Java & Bedrock
  • Play together

Keep moving

A world that will not wait

Bridges connect spheres with different biomes, water and caves. Wood, food and ores keep you going. Decide with your team what to take and when to move on.

The first participant to enter an ordinary sphere starts its shared countdown. After two minutes of active run time, it crumbles rapidly from bottom to top. Leaving does not reset the timer; pausing the run freezes it.

Rare Nether and End portal spheres remain intact.

Example round: One minute left? Finish your cave trip and head back out. The large countdown above the sphere shows how little time remains.

What to expect from your run

Rule complexity
Ordinary spheres crumble after two minutes; leaving in time matters more than building a base on each one.
Experience
Quick gathering, safe bridge routes and teamwork help when everyone shares a countdown.
Time commitment
Each ordinary sphere allows only a short visit; total run length depends on your goal and route.

Plan your departure

Get further together

Your team shares each sphere’s timer. Talk before someone enters the next one.

01Remember your route
Keep track of the way back to the bridge, especially while mining in caves.
02Split the work
One player gathers wood and food while another mines. Make those two minutes count together.
03Use stable spheres
Regroup on rare Nether and End portal spheres to prepare your next steps.

Crumbling Spheres FAQ

The key rules before your first run.

How do I see the remaining time?

A large countdown floats above entered spheres. Green means more than one minute, yellow means more than 24 seconds, and red marks the final 24 seconds. In the final minute, a warning motif repeats at shorter intervals as time runs out. You only hear it while on the affected sphere. Pausing the run freezes the timer and silences the warnings.

How do I reach the Nether and the End?

Explore several ordinary spheres first. Rare, randomly distributed Nether and End portal spheres remain stable. Look for a Nether portal sphere: its portal is missing two or three obsidian blocks. Replace them and light the portal. Nether portals are tied to this sphere, so you return there safely. Craft Eyes of Ender and follow them to a stable End portal sphere. Its End portal has empty frames. The Nether and End themselves remain normal dimensions.

Do bridges crumble too?

A bridge only crumbles once both spheres it connects have fully crumbled. Bridges connected to a stable sphere remain.

What happens when I respawn or join late?

New participants and respawns receive a safe spot on an undiscovered sphere as close to the team as possible. Rejoining preserves your position as long as it is still safe.

Can I catch the falling blocks?

No. Falling blocks visualize the collapse. They do not turn into new blocks or collectible items when they hit a platform.

Who can create this challenge?

The challenge is in the public catalog. The host selects it while creating a Personal Server; friends can join. The configurator checks which other rules can be combined with it.
