Minecraft challenge

Crafting = Mob

You craft a pickaxe. A mob appears behind you. By default, this happens with every completed recipe. Think about how much you craft at once.

Your crafting table gets crowded

Your crafting table calls mobs

By default, each time you finish a recipe, one mob is added. Watch out for shift-clicking: turning 64 logs into planks at once can produce 64 mobs.

The mobs appear behind you, roughly one every 0.5 seconds. Pausing, dying or leaving the server does not remove the mobs still waiting to spawn. They can keep appearing later.

By default, every completed recipe brings one mob; about one waiting mob appears every 0.5 seconds. Run settings can change the count and selection.

Example round: you need several batches of torches and craft a stack. Each recipe brings a mob, so you make room and plan an escape route before crafting more.

What to expect from your run

Rule complexity
Crafting once normally brings one mob. Shift-clicking can add many more.
Experience
It helps to know how to fight mobs and keep an escape route clear.
Time commitment
One large stack can start many fights. Split it up if you do not want to risk everything at once.

Tips for Crafting = Mob

A prepared crafting area makes the next mob less of a surprise.

01Craft in open terrain
Choose a place with visibility and an escape route so waiting mobs cannot trap you between blocks.
02Split up large stacks
Crafting many recipes brings mobs one after another. Split large stacks into smaller batches and deal with mobs between them.
03Split roles with friends
While you craft, your friends can watch your back and deal with dangerous mobs.

Another challenge

Combine Crafting = Mob with No Crafting

Most recipes are blocked. Crafting one of the allowed recipes still brings a mob.

Crafting = Mob FAQ

What happens when you craft.

What happens when I craft with shift-click?

If you shift-click to craft many recipes at once, each one counts separately. One click can therefore trigger many mobs.

When and where do the mobs appear?

By default, roughly one mob appears every 0.5 seconds behind the player who crafted the recipe. If you pause, die or leave the server, the remaining mobs wait until later.

Does blocked crafting summon a mob?

No. When No Crafting blocks a recipe, no mob appears for it.
