No Trading

No ender pearls from piglins, no gear from villagers. You need to find important items yourself, mine them or get them from mobs.

Close the exchange routes

Your progress comes from the world

While the run is active, your villager trades are cancelled. Piglin bartering is blocked too. You can keep emeralds and gold, but cannot trade them for items.

The challenge blocks these exchange routes only. Ores, normal loot and chests still work. The trading restriction applies once the run is active.

Once the run is active, both types of exchange are blocked by default.

Example round: a villager offers useful equipment, but the trade is cancelled during the run. In the Nether, you can still mine gold, but a piglin gives you no barter loot. You look for a structure, farm or another loot source instead.

01Explore structures early
Villages remain useful places and loot sources even though you cannot accept their offers.
02Secure food and drops
Gather food, ores and mob drops before you urgently need them for your goal.
03Use gold in other ways
You can still mine gold and use it for things like golden apples. Do not save it for piglin bartering.
04Look for other sources
For every important item, ask whether you can mine it, find it or get it from a mob.

No Trading FAQ

Which exchange routes are closed during the run.

Can I trade with villagers?

During the active run, your trades are cancelled. Before the run starts, the gameplay rules are not active yet.

Does piglin bartering work in the Nether?

No. Piglins do not give you items for gold while the run is active. You can still mine gold and use it for crafting.

Can I play No Trading with All Advancements?

No. Some advancements require trading, so All Advancements cannot be combined with No Trading.

You need Minecraft, but no extra mods or server hosting of your own.

How to join on Java & Bedrock

    Join Sparkane

    Connect to play.sparkane.com. We support 1.21.11 – 26.3 on Java. The “How to join on Java & Bedrock” guide covers both editions.

    Choose your challenge in the lobby

    Choose the ready-made preset for your challenge at the NPC in the lobby. Its goal and rules are already set. To change them or combine challenges, open the optional web configurator.

    Start your server and invite friends

    Create your server from the preset or your custom configuration and wait for your server to be ready. Invite friends with /invite <Name>. Java and Bedrock players can play together.

  4. 4

    Start the timer and play

    Everyone ready? As the host, use /timer start. You can then break blocks and the challenge rules become active. Use /timer pause and /timer resume to take a break and continue your run.
